To adapt to the changing market, Chrysler partnered with Mitsubishi Motors and sold Mitsubishi vehicles under the brand of Dodge and Plymouth in North America. Chrysler was near bankruptcy when a $1.5 billion loan from the US government and the new CEO Lee Lacocca returned the company to profitability by the 1980s. After a failed merger with Daimler-Benz AG and a lot more turning points its long misfortunate fate, the company was finally bought by Fiat S.p.A. renaming it to Fiat Chrysler Automobile US LLC reflecting the merger. Currently, as of 2017, Chrysler is offering only two models, the 300 and the Pacifica.
