Chrysler

Chrysler or Fiat Chrysler is the American flagship marque of the Italian automobile manufacturer Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V. FCA US is registered in the Netherlands and has its headquarters in Auburn, Michigan, USA. FCA US is one of the Big Three American automobile manufacturers along with Ford Motor Company and General Motors. Fiat Chrysler also owns other divisions including Dodge, Jeep, Ram Trucks and Mopar accessories and SRT performance automobile division.

Chrysler Corporation was founded in 1925 by Walter Chrysler from what was left of Maxwell Motor Company. Just after three years, the corporation acquired Fargo Trucks and Dodge Brothers. Walter also created Plymouth and Desoto brands. In 1960s, the company expanded into Europe after borrowing a loan of $250 million. Then it was bought by PSA Peugeot Citroën for $1. To adapt to the changing market, Chrysler partnered with Mitsubishi Motors and sold Mitsubishi vehicles under the brand of Dodge and Plymouth in North America. Chrysler was near bankruptcy when a $1.5 billion loan from the US government and the new CEO Lee Lacocca returned the company to profitability by the 1980s. After a failed merger with Daimler-Benz AG and a lot more turning points its long misfortunate fate, the company was finally bought by Fiat S.p.A. renaming it to Fiat Chrysler Automobile US LLC reflecting the merger. Currently, as of 2017, Chrysler is offering only two models, the 300 and the Pacifica.
