SsangYong
SsangYong Motor Company is a Korean based automotive manufacturer ranked 4th in the country’s automobile industry. SsangYong began as two separate entities: Ha Dong-hwan Motor Workshop (established in 1954) and Dongbang Motor Co (established in 1962). They combined into Ha Dong-hwan Motor Co in 1963. The next year, they started building jeeps for the US army and by 1976 they were producing a range of special vehicles. It was bought by the SsangYong Group in 1986 after revising its name to Dong-A motors and taking over Keohwa Motors. After changing many hands, the company was finally sold to Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. in 2011 for 522.5 billion Won on the verge of bankruptcy. Recently, they’ve announces that the next Rexton, one of their flagship models, will be designed by the famous Pininfarina studio which has the same parent company.
